Your Role

You are an experienced leader with 10 or more years of broad experience in accounting and financial management. You will report directly to the CEO and as a member of the senior leadership team, you will be an inspirational leader working throughout the organization to accomplish this objective.

You will be aligning business and finance strategy to grow the business, carried out through the budgeting process, by providing financial planning and analysis and through leading operational reviews.

Data is your lifeblood and as you know it separates opinions from facts and can provide a competitive advantage for an organization. You will help identify and drive a variety of initiatives to improve enterprise value creation including: up-sell/cross-sell strategies, pricing & packaging optimizations, Self-service sales, High-velocity sales, and strategic acquisitions.

As the CFO, your work is to protect the vital assets of the company, ensure compliance with financial regulations, close the books and forecast cash correctly, and communicate value and risk issues to the CEO, investors, and boards.

Main Responsibilities

  • Serve 221 as an expert in finance, by reviewing and monitoring monthly and annual financial operations, preparing analysis and reports and giving guidance to executive leaders.
  • Construct best practices around internal control systems and provide strategic guidance
  • Oversee internal audits to check for compliance with best practice policies, procedures and standards.
  • Create and implement short- and long-term departmental goals, objectives and ensure that department structure and staff effectively accomplish these goals and oversee and certify annual audits. Ensure current accounting standards and legal requirements are met.
  • Oversee and review preparation of reports to management, governmental agencies and all required external entities.
  • Develop reliable operating pro-formas, financial modeling and analysis to identify opportunities and risks associated with projects, ventures and programs.
  • In conjunction with HR, define and implement a best-in-class payroll service, maintaining compliance with local, state and federal employment laws and payroll taxes across multiple countries.
  • Handle all payroll and withholding functions for the staff.
  • Develop performance indicators and measurement systems for tracking strategic plan objectives.
  • Evaluate current business models and provide clear recommendations to modify or redesign business models where necessary.
  • Oversee the annual operating budget, including all department budgets.
  • Work closely with each department to ensure the budgets are well-planned, realistic and prepared in a timely manner.
  • Maintain all necessary records and accounting reports and ensure record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies and is completed in a timely manner.
  • Develop and/or maintain working relationships with auditors, bankers, investors, board members, attorneys and other professional advisors.

About You

  • Fluent in English
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or equivalent; MBA, CPA or CMA preferred, or some combination of education and experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in operating and understanding general business matters including payroll, budgets, financial reporting, cash management, business taxes, banking and debt financing instruments required.
  • Proven knowledge, experience and leadership skills to recruit, train and develop a high-performing team.
  • You have 5+ years of progressive experience at a venture-backed SaaS company (ideally SMB focused), with VP-level responsibility for accounting, financial planning, and analytics.
  • Your track record shows you are a trusted advisor and business partner. You can drive business insights, actions, and accountability across departments with a customer service-oriented attitude.
  • You are an accomplished leader and coach and can recruit, manage and lead an all-star team.
  • You exhibit strong written and oral communication skills and can influence across the organization. You inspire confidence and can garner support for strategic initiatives.
  • You are experienced in developing and presenting business plans, models, and financial forecasts to management and the investment community.
  • You are diligent. You have an eye for details and strive for accuracy and operational excellence.
